Historic Heritage Reinterpreted

Villa M was originally built in the 1930s and was surrounded by a generous meadow, opening the house to the green area and shaping its architecture. With the recent construction on the adjacent land, the original orientation lost its effect.

The street-facing main facade respects the historic structure and retains its original form. Historic proportions and the horizontal divisions have been carefully restored and reinterpreted through shadow joints. At the same time, wooden elements modernize the facade and make it more inviting.

The new terrace extension continues the proportions of the 1935 building in a measured way. It reflects both the dimensions of the original structure and the 1967 addition, creating a harmonious overall composition. The extension scales the existing volume sensitively, respectfully continuing the original architectural language and establishing a sense of continuity.

With the newly planned extension, the house now opens toward the garden: living areas, bedrooms, and children’s rooms all benefit from direct views of the majestic tree. Large windows of over 25 m² flood the interiors with natural light, creating bright and welcoming atmospheres. The garden is not merely an addition but an integral part of the design – a green space that frames the house and merges seamlessly with the architecture.

Inside, open layouts, carefully aligned sightlines, and a restrained material palette continue the clarity of the facade. Light, proportion, and thoughtfully placed details give the spaces a calm, timeless character.

Villa M is located in a protected zone, and the historic structure is treated with care and respect. At the same time, the house is realized with sustainable materials such as wood and hemp insulation, highlighting a responsible approach to resources.
