Light sails are used as guiding symbols for the state exhibition around the Millstaetter Lake, Austria. In the 90's the lighthouse, one of the oldest communication systems, was used as a metaphor for orientation through the World Wide Web by the internet browser "Netscape Navigator". The lighthouse - a point of orientation, to be seen from far, was long time used for shipping throughout day and night. Nowadays the lighthouse is used as a symbol for holidays, for the sea, for adventures and water.

A wall is a usually solid structure that defines and sometimes protects an area. Most commonly, a wall delineates a building and supports its superstructure, separates space in buildings into rooms, or protects or delineates a space in the open air. In our case the wall in combination with a canopy, to provide shade and shelter, is creating a huge landscaped lobby with ramps and two new spaces - the two entrance boxes - both for screening and scanning people entering the VIC.

Rondo ist ein skulpturaler Schalensessel, der auf der halben Welt seinen Platz gefunden hat - in Büros, Restaurants oder zu Hause. Charakteristisch sind zwei Schichtholzschalen, organisch geformt und intelligent vereint. Zehn ausgewählte Architekturbüros und zehn Designstudios waren eingeladen, ihren Ideen freien Lauf zu lassen - und im Dialog mit den geschwungenen Holzteilen etwas Neues zu schaffen. new balcony, new life
A formerly dark apartment, oriented towards the north, was expanded by a 20sqm balcony. It opens up the interior to the west and provides it with a large amount of natural light. Although this balcony is a simple structure, it is remarkable that it was possible to cut it through a firewall - something that is normally prohibited by the Viennese building code.
